We are proud to announce the creation of a scholarship program to
help deserving, unpublished, romance authors become members of HeRA.
This scholarship is strictly donation-based and will cover the fees
for one year's membership in Romance Writers of America (RWA), the
national professional organization of which HeRA is a member.
Membership in RWA is required in order to join HeRA.
One scholarship will be awarded each calendar year.
Minimum Guidelines for
Application:
- The applicant should be
actively pursuing a career in Romance writing. While HeRA
encourages writers of all genres to join the group, the specific
focus of this scholarship is to aid unpublished romance authors
for whom RWA membership may be a financial burden.
- The applicant should have a
work-in-progress at the time of application. As a
professional organization, with published authors amongst our
membership, we are interested in helping develop the skills of
committed authors. A work-in-progress demonstrates the
seriousness of the applicant's commitment.
- The applicant should be able to
attend a minimum of eight, out of the twelve, monthly HeRA
meetings during the scholarship year.
- The applicant should be able to
serve on at least one active committee during the scholarship
year. A list of all active committees shall be provided to
the awardee and awardee shall be allowed his or her preference.
When To Apply:
HeRA accepts completed applications from November 1 - December 31 of
the preceding scholarship year.
