Writer's Bootcamp

The Writer's Bootcamp is a new venture for HeRA in 2012. We've learned that as new members join us, there are certain needs that must be met. Certain basics that every budding author needs to master. But presenting these same basics each month in programs, year after year, doesn't allow for growth opportunity.

So to give writers who are just getting their feet wet the best chance of success that we can provide, we've designed classes to further their knowledge base. These classes are held online, so a member may participate actively, or if his/her schedule is full of demands, the information may be gathered and stored. Workshops are presented by HeRA members as well, so the 'teacher' is always accessible.

These classes are also available to non-members periodically throughout the year. However, as a HeRA Member, this is a free benefit.

Workshops include:

  • Formatting
  • Plotting / Character Development
  • GMC
  • Dialogue
  • POV
  • Show vs. Tell
  • Using the Five Senses
  • Passive Voice
  • Tightening Sentences
  • Beginning / Chapter Hooks

Interested in a class but not a member?

Right now, we are not technologically established to accept payments for our workshops via an online medium. However, our class structure is suitable for long-distance interest. Please contact us for more information on our current class schedule and billing arrangements.
